In the past, our company operated with decentralized HR processes across global locations, each following its own approach. Recognizing the need for a more scalable and efficient system, we started to standardize and unify these processes. By analyzing local onboarding frameworks and mirroring them at a global scale, we aimed to optimize the employee experience while streamlining operations. A key driver of this transformation was the usage of an cloud-based software, enabling a uniform, technology-driven approach to onboarding and talent management. This shift not only enhances scalability and efficiency but also supports the creation of an employee-first culture—one that prioritizes seamless transitions, career growth, and engagement from day one. Now that implementation is underway, we will share our challenges, learnings, and successes—from ensuring local adaptability within a global framework to overcoming hurdles in tech integration. In addition to driving several strategic HR projects, my main responsibilities are ensuring, leading, and driving our Wärtsilä employee experience throughout the full employee journey and lifecycle, including our digital, MyHR portal. I have renewed our Employee engagement strategy, process and content ensuring a fit-for purpose approach including renewed methodology and questions. In addition, I am driving our Performance management renewal through a global programme involving all 2500 Line Managers, our Talent acquisition operational model renewal, employee listening & engagement (including measurement, strategy & tactics), and renewing our Onboarding and Offboarding process including tech implementation, and finally driving for increase in Internal Career Mobility through implementing a framework and several concepts utilizing data driven decision-making. Key focus areas also include top talent development, strategic workforce planning, employer branding, and employee retention. HR communications and change management are an integral part of my role. I currently lead the HR communications and work closely with Group and business communications.
